all kinds of writing

After yet another grueling rehearsal schedule and a performance that many classed as top notch and one to beat - the band came fourth at the National Finals in Harrogate today.

Playing Rutter’s Suite for Brass, they managed to play what is considered to be one of their best performances on the nerve wrecking Conference Centre stage - special mention to Sop player Ben Hirons for a spot on job!

But, the adjudicators were looking for something else after remarking that the piece was too loud (bearing in mind that it was originally written for strings.)

Congratulations must go to Wellington Telford, the winners on the day. A great bunch that celebrated the day’s events in the pub with Oldham Band whilst awaiting the results. The band look forward to meeting them again in the forthcoming Pontins Contest in October.
